Tonight's UND Exhibition Game not on FCS

I've had a few people ask me if tonight's UND hockey game is on Fox College Sports. It will not be on FCS. Brad Schlossman had this on his blog this morning.
NOTE: Tonight’s game will be on Midco Sports Network. Before you ask, no, it will not be on FCS. Yes, UND, FCS and Midco are still working on an agreement so other games will be on FCS, but it is not done yet. I’m expecting something soon. Tonight’s game also will be on nchc.tv. Okay, so, let’s carry on….)
It does appear that UND games will make a return to Fox College Sports soon.

UND Hockey: The Weekend Ahead (11/29 -11/30)

This weekend, the University of North Dakota entertains St. Lawrence Saints of the ECAC in a non-conference series at Ralph Engelstad Arena. Last weekend, UND lost and tied (1-3 L, 3-3 T) in their non-conference series with the Boston University Terriers at Agganis Arena.
Matchup: North Dakota (4-6-2, 3-5-0 NCHC) vs. St. Lawrence (7-5-2, 2-3-0 Hockey East).
Date: November 29-30, 2013.
Time: 7:37 p.m. Friday / Saturday 7:07 p.m.

Series History

UND leads the All-time series 11-1-0 (.917). In Grand Forks, ND: UND leads the series 6-0-0 (1.000). In Canton, New York: UND leads the series 2-1-0 (.667). At neutral sites: UND leads the series 3-0-0 (1.000). Under coach Dave Hakstol UND owns a 1-0-0 (1.000) record against SLU. Last 10 games against SLU: UND leads the series 9-1-0 (.900). The two teams didn’t play last season.

UNDSID clears up a few things

Here's a response that @UNDSID  to a post that was on Brad's blog. It's worth a read, it covers a few things that people are talking about.




Those of us that commented on this in the beginning were told by UND Media Relations and others to be quiet and wait for “Big Announcements”. We knew that this would not be good for those outside of the MidCo area (ND,SD,MN), and we argued that fact. We were told that the streaming would be better, and it did not improve. HD will be great, but if it continuously buffers and dumps, what good is it. UND Media Relations said they would get the Flash Player issue worked out for those with Apple products, but that did not happen. Good luck using an App like Photon to play the feed. It looks like we are stuck with the garbage they are currently using and I am tired of people saying, “be quiet and wait, there will be big news”. Media Relations needs to push hard at a minimum for the FTA feed to be allowed for home games from MidCo for those who had invested in that years ago. That will not effect their dollars to any significance and actually help those outside of the area. That is just one step to appease the growing issues that they will be seeing. Six games is nothing and a huge, huge loss for UND Hockey. I would hope we would at least see some comment from UND, Media Relations or on up, on this problem for their alums outside of ND,SD, and MN.

    Hello everyone. It's been awhile -- I trust everyone's had a great summer. I posted this over on Schlossman's blog but figured I'd double up over here. FYI, the "big announcements" reference was in response to a specific comment over there:

    No one affiliated with UND Athletics promised anyone “big announcements.” Simply not true.

    What we *have* been saying is that we will continue to seek improvements to our viewing options across ALL platforms. That has not changed and that will not change. The broadcast situation we have today may not be the broadcast situation we have by the time the puck drops opening night. Or a year from now. These things evolve, take time and require a little patience.

    Did we promise HD webcasts and enhanced webcast support? Yes, beginning with the upcoming season our home webcasts will be offered in high definition. In light of the shifting TV situation, we have allocated and committed the necessary resources to providing high quality web streams.

    At the end of the day, fans will still have the ability to watch literally every single home game. Every one of them. Plus four road games. Some of these will be on your television screen and yes, some will have to be on your computer screen. You also have the ability to send the HD webcast feed to your flatscreen TV with one cord and one press of a button. In the coming weeks, our website will offer a video tutorial on how to make that conversion for those who are unfamiliar with the process.

    In the meantime, we will continue to do everything within our power to bring more of our games back to national TV. Neither UND, nor the NCHC Commissioner, is ignoring our television situation. Quite the contrary, in fact.

    But please understand that it is a work in progress.

    Time for a National College Hockey pay per view television package

    As most of you know, as of right now, home UND Hockey games are not going to be on DirecTV anymore.  As of right now, there will be “no" UND Hockey games shown outside of the regional area unless the games are on CBSSN… So, going forward, you will have to use the webcasts if you want to watch the games live.

    Now, here’s what we “could” do, I suggest that we flood the lines at DirecTV 1-800-531-5000 and tell them that we would like to have MidcoSportsnet.com from Midcontinent Communications on DirecTV. I would even suggest that you’re willing to pay extra so you can have those games on your DirecTV programming. 

    Also, let's start a campaign to call MidcoSportsnet at (605)-274-7638 and flood their lines as well.

    College hockey needs to have a hockey television packed like the NHL does. Recently, I touched on some of these issues at the Hockey Writers. 

    Obviously, the Big Ten has the Big Ten Network, which is a financial gold mine. The NCHC has a new television deal with     CBS Sports Network. In its current form, the WCHA has no current television deal.

    Without a current television deal, the WCHA will get little exposure on the national level.

    I am not sure, how a web deal is going to do much for national exposure. Hooking up a desktop computer or laptop to your home television can be a bit difficult, if you’re not very tech savvy.

    During the     2012-13 NHL Lockout, college hockey played a major role in filling the gap left by the NHL lockout, especially in the USA. NBC Sports Network and CBS Sports Network allowed college hockey fans to see firsthand that Division I college hockey is a viable game and gave them an option to the NHL. Some hockey fans, decided to stick with the NCAA Hockey after the NHL lockout ended.

    If you have DirecTV package – with the sports package – you can watch many regional broadcasts of college hockey. This season, thanks to DirecTV, I watched both Monday’s of the     Beanpot Tournament, as well as both games of the 2013 Hockey City Classic.

    Why not develop a college hockey television package like the NHL and the NBA have? I know many fans that would pay extra money to subscribe to a college hockey television package
